Have you had a vacation recently? I think we're all in need of one. We need a break from the endless routine. We need a break from the constant barrage of news. In short, we need to unplug from the craziness. In normal times, many of us would’ve already taken a vacation or had one on the books for August. In these times, it's even more important that we get out of the house. Sure it’s trickier these days, but there are options if you look hard enough. Crowded beaches are probably not a good bet. An isolated Airbnb is. Camping is another option. Or better yet a friend or family’s vacation house. We were fortunate enough to borrow a friend’s lake house for a week and it was magical. If you haven't already, find your own getaway.
Here are a few more ideas for managing through this.
Be selfish with your time. As hard as we try to keep boundaries between work and life, work seeps into our personal life. If you can’t change this, be clear that you’re going to compensate by taking personal time during the day. Don't feel guilty.
This is a marathon. There will be periods of discomfort and anxiety. Don’t ignore these feelings, but don't allow yourself to get overwhelmed. Chances are you’ve had low, dark days before and came out the other side. Remember that you are more resilient than you give yourself credit for.
